What is Dumpling?
Dumpling is a voice-note app for iPhone and Apple Watch. You talk; it turns each recording into a titled, tagged note, files it into the right folder, pulls out your to-dos, and writes an end-of-day wrap-up.
Does Dumpling work on Apple Watch?
Yes. Record from the Dumpling app on your Watch, from a button on your watch face, or by saying “Hey Siri, record a note in Dumpling”. Watch notes appear on your iPhone and are sorted like any other note.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. Recordings stay on your iPhone and are transcribed there. To title and sort a note, only its transcript text is sent to the AI you choose, and with Apple Intelligence nothing leaves your iPhone at all.
Do I need an account?
No. There’s no sign-up, no ads and no tracking. You can add an email address if you’d like your daily wrap-up emailed to you.
Does it work offline?
Recording and transcription work offline. Sorting with Dumpling AI or your own AI key waits for a connection; Apple Intelligence sorts on your iPhone.
Can I use my own AI key?
Yes. In Settings, choose Own key and paste a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Google Gemini or OpenRouter. Dumpling works out which service it’s for and lets you pick a model. Your key is stored on your iPhone and never sent to Dumpling’s server; note text goes straight from your iPhone to that service.
How much does Dumpling cost?
Dumpling is free to use. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, your notes are sorted on your iPhone for free. Dumpling AI includes 30 free minutes of notes a month, and Dumpling Plus ($1.99 a month, $17.99 a year, or $39.99 once) sorts with no monthly limit. You can also use your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Google Gemini or OpenRouter), or turn AI off.
Does Dumpling share my notes with CalendarPA?
Only if you connect CalendarPA and send a meeting. AdaPA is the built-in virtual assistant for CalendarPA that handles your bookings. When you send a meeting, CalendarPA gets the words you said about it, the person you picked, the details you confirmed and your time zone, so AdaPA can find a time. Recordings, full transcripts and locked notes are never sent. You can disconnect in Settings whenever you like.
Can I get my notes out?
Yes. Settings → Export everything saves all your notes, transcripts, to-dos and audio in a zip file.
